The project is a large-scale offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea. It has been designed to generate up to 976.5 MW of clean electricity, making it the largest offshore wind project in the region.
The offshore wind farm is located in the 12-nautical-mile zone (Coastal Sea), approximately 15 kilometres north of the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, within a designated priority area for offshore wind energy.
The project demonstrates Skyborn’s full offshore wind capabilities across the entire value chain – from development and financing to execution and long-term operations – serving as a scalable model for future projects.
Once operational, the project is expected to generate approx. 3.8 TWh of clean electricity annually – enough to power approx. one million households.

Once fully commissioned, the project will have an operational lifetime of at least 35 years.
Yes. The project received its construction and operating permit, covering aspects such as the marine environment and marine vessel and aviation traffic safety, in December 2025 from the relevant authority in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
The project has been subject to extensive environmental assessments. Its design incorporates measures to protect sensitive species and habitats in the Baltic Sea, including long-term monitoring, adaptive mitigation measures and a compensation measure on the island of Rügen.
Securing the construction and operating permit confirms that the project will be built and operated in full compliance with strict environmental standards. While any offshore infrastructure interacts with its surrounding ecosystem, extensive measures are in place to ensure impacts are strictly minimised. The project includes dedicated research and mitigation programmes to better understand and reduce potential impacts on migratory birds, bats, and marine species. These measures are developed in collaboration with environmental stakeholders.

Yes. The project relies significantly on local, regional and national suppliers, fostering the offshore wind industry and strengthening the supply chain across Germany. The project’s service base facility, including a dedicated multifunctional operations building, will be located within the maritime business park in Rostock-Warnemünde.
The project uses 63 next-generation, offshore-certified wind turbine generators of the 15 MW class, supplied by Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (Omterra).
The offshore wind farm is connected to the German transmission grid via dedicated offshore infrastructure provided by the transmission system operator (TSO) 50Hertz. This includes two jointly owned offshore substations and an export cable system that transmits the generated clean electricity safely and efficiently to the onshore grid.
The clean electricity generated by the project will be used, among others, by Amazon Web Services (600 MW) and Uniper (100 MW) under long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs), as well as via direct offtake by its investment partner Stadtwerke München (SWM). Any remaining capacity will be offered to the merchant market via the electricity exchange.
50Hertz is a key partner in the project and the responsible transmission system operator (TSO). In this role, 50Hertz is responsible for connecting the project to the German grid and reliably integrating the generated clean electricity into the German power system.
Stadtwerke München (SWM) is a strategic partner and co-investor in the project. As a municipal utility committed to renewable energy, SWM contributes to the long-term operation and financing of the project, supporting the delivery of clean electricity and strengthening the project’s role in Germany’s energy transition.
The offshore wind farm is located within a designated offshore wind priority area, offering strong, stable wind conditions and favourable site conditions such as suitable water depth and seabed conditions. Its proximity to the service base in Rostock-Warnemünde enables efficient integration into the existing German grid infrastructure while minimising impacts on coastal communities.
Yes. Due to their size, the wind turbine generators will be visible from the coast on clear days, despite their distance of approximately 15 kilometres from the shoreline. At night, visual impact is minimised through needs-based aviation marking and lighting systems, which activate only when aircraft are nearby, subject to prevailing weather conditions.
Offshore wind is a vital pillar of the energy transition, as it can provide large volumes of reliable, renewable electricity without emitting CO₂. Compared with onshore sites, offshore wind farms benefit from stronger, more consistent wind conditions, enabling significantly higher electricity yields.
